W16 Sketch Collage

Saturday morning

Brenda Swenson

When one image isn’t enough to tell the story I make a sketch collage (not to be confused with glueing papers on a page). The word collage means: collection or gathering. Come ready to see and explore Edmonds in a new way. Learn how to integrate multiple images on a page to tell a bigger story of a place or event. Important elements will include: architecture, signage and people.

  • Bring your favorites. My list isn’t mandatory and what you’re comfortable with is the best tool to use.
  • Sketchbook: I don’t skimp on sketchbooks and prefer sketchbooks with quality watercolor paper (100% cotton paper).• Watercolor Palette: Folding palette with mixing area.
  • Watercolor Brushes: Range of sizes
  • Pens: Black or Brown (water-resistant ink)
  • Pencil & Eraser
  • Miscellaneous: Support for sketchbook (Foam Core or Gator Board), clips, water cup, paper towels, spray bottle.
  • Folding Chair
