W14: Journey Sketching

$140.00

WORKSHOP
W14

Saturday morning

David Chamness

When traveling, sometimes you have limited time or patience from your travel partner to sketch for a long timeframe at great locations. Instead, what if you could capture a series that tells the story of a journey rather than one detailed sketch from a single point of view?

This workshop will teach strategies to prioritize and capture the journey through a series of quick sketches using simplification, picking and choosing of details, and employing fast color washes. Don’t get hung up or overwhelmed when you only have a few minutes to sketch, let the pressure of the moment help capture the essence of what you are seeing on your journey.

We will create a series of 5 to 10-minute sketches as we walk through Edmonds on Main Street from Graphite to Café Louvre.

  • Creating a visual story of your journey with quick sketches
  • Using multiple pages in a small sketchbook or a larger single sheet with multiple sketches
  • Adding a plan diagram to show the journey path.
