Sketching the Spark: From Observation to Studio Painting

Workshop description
This workshop explores the creative bridge between sketching on location and developing finished work in the studio. We’ll head out to sketch environments, capturing quick studies, compositions, and visual ideas directly from life. You’ll learn how to simplify scenes, identify strong focal points, and collect visual notes that go beyond a single sketch. These location studies will become the foundation for a larger, more developed studio piece. Back in the studio, you’ll translate your sketches into a finished painting using watercolor or your medium of choice, turning spontaneous observation into intentional, expressive artwork.
