Map Happy: Enriching Your Sketchbook with Maps

Workshop description

Explore the world of maps and mapmaking like never before! You’ll discover how to integrate your personal experience with a particular place using tried-and-true techniques such as “mapping” your art supplies, incorporating maps and map elements in your sketchbook. In this workshop, we’ll explore:
  • Maps as collage and design elements
  • Maps as on-page graphic elements
  • Sources of inspiration for titles, design elements, infographics and other nonstandard maps
  • Using new techniques to create a map of your Sketcher Fest experience
Tell a bigger and more meaningful story with maps!

Supplies

Basic sketching supplies including:
  • Sketchbook (preferably 8×8” or larger) or drawing/watercolor paper
  • Pencil, ruler, ink pen, watercolor and brush (or colored pencils/markers)
