Volunteer Roles
Ticket Taker
Ticket Takers are the welcoming face of Sketcher Fest. You will greet people coming to Graphite and the Edmonds Waterfront Center, check their tickets and wish them a great experience. Here’s what the role involves:
- Using the FooEvents app and your phone camera to scan QR-code tickets that attendees will have to show on their phone screens or as printouts.
- Giving each attendee a copy of the 48-page printed program if they don’t already have one.
- Giving each attendee a wristband corresponding to the event they are attending (Red for Artist Talk, Violet for Artists’ Reception, Blue for Sketchbook Fair.)
- Managing the flow of attendees into the venues, using your own discretion to accommodate those who arrive late for Artists Talks and politely turning back anyone who doesn’t have a ticket.
Room Crew
Room Crew volunteers are the logistical backbone that makes the event possible. Here’s what you’ll do:
- Set up and tear down chairs for Artist Talks at Graphite.
- Move boxes with books and other merchandise to be sold at the Sketcher Fest store.
- Load and unload equipment and merchandise from event rental van.
- Carry boxes containing 28 gridwalls from the event rental van into the Edmonds Waterfront Center.
- Assemble gridwalls for artists displays at the Edmonds Waterfront Center Saturday evening. The assembly process is simple but time-consuming. It consists of screwing metal legs to the vertical panels.
- Set up and tear down of the exhibit hall space and the upstairs conference room at the Edmonds Waterfront Center. Tables and chairs are already in the building.
- Cover Sketchbook Fair tables with black tablecloths.
Workshop Assistant
The Workshop Assistant ensures that the workshop starts and finishes on time, making sure there’s an opportunity for a group photo at the end. You will gather workshop participants at the meeting point behind the Graphite building and assist the instructor for the full duration of the workshop. Here’s a breakdown of the most important tasks during the workshop:
- Use the FooEvents app and your phone camera to scan QR-code tickets that attendees will have to show on their phone screens or as printouts.
- Give each attendee a copy of the 48-page program if they don’t already have one, and a color wristband (Bright yellow for Morning Workshops; Light Orange for Afternoon Workshops).
- Lead attendees alongside your instructor to the workshop location.
- Keep an eye on instructor and participants belongings.
- Focus on documenting the workshop, taking good photographs and video of the teacher and students in action.
- Make sure the group gathers for a final photo at the end.
- Share photos and video from the workshop on social media tagging @sketcherfest IG account as the workshop is happening. Also add hashtags #sketcherfestedmonds and #sketcherfest2025
- Before the month ends, share the photos and videos from the workshop with info@sketcherfest.com via Google Drive or wetransfer.com.
