Meet the Guest Artists coming to Sketcher Fest 2025

Today we are pleased to announce a stellar roster of international, national and local artists who will be coming to our travel sketchbook festival in Edmonds, Washington, July 19-20.
Ticket sales information, a schedule of workshops and artists talks, and details about the Sunday Sketchbook Fair and Art Market will be announced in early spring. Events will be hosted at Graphite Arts Center on Main Street and at the Edmonds Waterfront Center overlooking Puget Sound.

Cyrille Briand is a watercolor artist living in the French Atlantic coast. He is the author of “Carnet de l’Estuaire,” a travel sketchbook about the Loire River delta.
Marielle Durand is an artist and author based in Paris. Her latest book, “Paris Jeux t’aime” showcases her watercolors of sporting events at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Nishant Jain is an artist based in Vancouver B.C. and the host of the SneakyArt Podcast. His first book, “Make (Sneaky) Art,” will be released in September.
Lapin has been an official air and space painter of the French Air Force since 2019. He has filled more than 220 sketchbooks over the years and published more than 50 books.
Mário Linhares teaches drawing in Lisbon and has given lectures about urban sketching and reportage all over the world. He holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from the University of Lisbon.
Dominika Wróblewska is a freelance reportage illustrator based in Gdańsk. She recently documented the winter swimming culture in Poland for On the Spot.
Jenny Jing Zhang is a Chicago-based artist and urban sketcher. In 2022, she was awarded a Fellowship to reside and conduct urban sketching in Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy.
Nina Khashchina has filled more than 155 sketchbooks over the years, documenting trips to the Maldives, Spain, Alaska, her native Ukraine and many other locations.
Joey Mason is a sketch journalist based in Los Angeles. He has published several paperback collections of sketches featuring street life in cities around the world.
Sanika Phawde is a cartoonist, educator and reportage artist based in Boston. Her work has been published in The New Yorker, On the Spot and many other publications.
James Richards is the author of “Freehand Drawing and Discovery” and “Travel Artist.” His sketching expertise, workshops and lectures have taken him to 50 countries.
Bill Russell created “The Bay Folk Sketchbook” as a San Francisco Chronicle artist and taught Illustration at the California College of the Arts. He writes Illustrated Journalism.
Rita Sabler is a visual journalist, author and educator based in Portland. She received the International Sketchbook Prize at the 2019 Rendez-Vous du Carnet de Voyage Festival.
Christina Wald is the author of “Sketching Here & Everywhere: My Sketching Obsession,” a combination of personal anecdotes and tips from years of teaching.
Stephanie Bower is a watercolor artist and international workshop instructor based in Seattle. She is the author of “The World of Urban Sketching” and other books on sketching.
Eleanor Doughty travels abroad to teach on-location sketching since 2019. She co-hosts the Street View World Tour on Zoom and writes Hand To Paper on Substack.
Jane Wingfield is an urban sketcher based in Olympia. She has taught workshops in the Pacific Northwest and New York and is currently traveling and sketching in Southeast Asia.
Daniel Winterbottom was awarded an Urban Sketchers Reportage Grant in 2021 for his project “The Shifting Landscapes of Despair, Hope, Survival and Persistence.”
Gail Wong co-wrote “The Urban Sketching Handbook: Spotlight on Nature” with Virgina Hein. She is a retired architect and watercolor artist based in Seattle.
