Dear sketcher,

No Instagram or Facebook? No problem. Here's an easy-to-use bulletin board where we can introduce ourselves, post questions, share information and connect with each other.

This board has no bells and whistles, but anyone can see the content without being at the mercy of social media platforms and their algorithms. If you are a registered user, you can also reply to threads and start new topics.

Here are a few ways to get started:

  • Introduce yourself: Tell us where you’re from, what kind of sketching you enjoy and if you have attended Sketcher Fest already or this year will be your first.
  • Share your sketches: Post drawings from your sketchbook — whether they’re from Edmonds, the Pacific Northwest, or anywhere else.
  • Ask questions: Looking for sketching tips, materials, or local spots to draw? This is the place.
  • Plan sketch meetups: Use the hub to connect with other artists and organize sketch walks or informal gatherings.

I hope the hub becomes a useful tool to keep the spirit of Sketcher Fest going before, during and after the event.

Sketch on!

Woohoo, great kickoff! This will be my first sketch fest, though I’m really active in my local urban sketch community. In fact, four of us are coming from SLC together, and will spend a couple extra days. Looking forward to a wonderful weekend!

Thank you for creating this alternate hub for communication amongst sketchers!

Love the Hub, Gaby.

This will be my 3rd SketcherFest. I live in Corvallis, Oregon and enjoy all types of sketching here, at the coast, at airports, in LA (yes, I do love LA!) and wherever I happen to be. Coming to Corvallis? I'd be happy to show you my fav spots.

Attached: a sketch from LAX and Central Park in Manhattan.  Materials:

  • Sketchbook: Stillman & Birn 3.5" x 5.5" beta series
  • Palette: Art Tool Kit demi-palette
  • Daniel Smith paints
  • waterbrush
  • micron pen

Thank you very much much for creating the Hub, Gabi. A brilliant alternative to those social media platforms I avoid! Thank you too for the new system of workshop requests and lotteries for spaces. It’s fair to people in every time zone, and angst free. My friend and I really appreciate these innovations.

This will be my third consecutive Sketcher Fest and I’m already very excited! I love Edmonds and its wonderful culture, beauty, and shoreline setting. I stayed for a week last year and will do so again this year. There’s so much to enjoy!
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area in a beautiful shoreline town called Benicia. It’s an arts center with lots of scenic views and interesting architecture to draw and paint. I enjoy various ways of making art, whether on location or from images. My favorite sketching tools and media are fountain, dip, and brush pens, especially fude pens, with DeAtramentis Document waterproof ink; Daniel Smith watercolors in my Art Toolkit folio palette (2024 Sketcher Fest edition); Caran D’Ache Neocolor II water-soluble wax crayons; Rosemary & Co brushes as well as Pentel Aquash waterbrushes; some medium to thick graphite pencils or leads; and Stillman & Birn Beta sketchbooks in various sizes.
I look forward to meeting lots of sketchers, exchanging ideas and techniques, and having fun! See everyone in Edmonds!

Yes, it is WONDERFUL to have alternatives to mainstream social media!

I live locally, near the University of Washington, and am one of the four (count 'em, FOUR!!) admin for USkSeattle. Our chapter generally goes out once a week, though when the weather is fine in July and August, we go wild. The cherry blossoms are just about to bloom at UW, so now we're just looking for that opening in the atmospheric river to go and sketch them.

I love the hubbub at Sketcher Fest - it's so much fun to meet up with your people, even if you're only meeting them for the first time. Thanks for organizing this, Gabi.

Hi fellow sketchers!

My name is Rebecca Huval, and I’m from Sacramento, CA, where Priya and I started up Urban Sketchers Sacramento after meeting at Sketcher Fest last year! This will be my second year at Sketcher Fest. I love the atmosphere of mutual learning and camaraderie. Thanks for organizing it, Gabi!
