Hello from Salt Lake City. I am so excited to attend my very first sketch-fest in Edmonds. I started urban sketching on February 1, 2023 and it has quickly become a passion of mine. I have learned to combine my love of watercolor with urban sketching and now find it hard to draw/paint from a photo because getting outside helps capture the "vibe" that is missing from my previous paintings. I am looking forward to learning new ways of sketching and painting. See you soon.

Hi! I'm Sara Herner, living in Chimacum (near Port Townsend), Washington. This is my first SketchFest. I've been playing and working at art for years, but I only started urban sketching two years ago when we planned a 2-month trip to Europe (first timers). I used it to capture the day's sights and fun, add momentos, all to recall the flavor of the day later. I took two small sketchbooks that fit in my pocket ArtToolKit, with pens, watercolor pencils, and water brushes. After we returned, I bound the two sketchbooks together and created a leather cover/binding for them. That was fun as well. For me, sketching and art are for fun and personal. I look forward to meeting all of you and learning where you find your best fun in sketching as well. See you soon! --Sara

Hi folks, looking forward to meeting you in July. I'm coming all the way from Australia and keen to enjoy sketching on my first trip to the USA. I'm a full time fine artist with a busy studio practice and have kept a sketchbook habit for several decades. I feel the camaraderie of sketching together means we learn heaps more about our fellow humans, the world around us and ourselves. Keen for much chatting and drawing together!

I was happy with how it worked this year. This was my first time, so I don't have any experience with how it used to work. But I felt it was about as fair as it could be. Four of us signed up, and we all eventually got into at least one workshop, most got into two. I had no problem looking over the workshops and deciding which ones I wanted to attend the most; that's pretty much par for the course when signing up for these popular events.

The only suggestion I'd make is to verify you received our workshop requests; and to add that you will be emailing everyone about the results, letting them know whether or not they got into a workshop.

Thanks for all your hard work, and I'm excited to attend!

It sounds like I can purchase an Artist talk single ticket at the door. Do I just show up to the talk early and buy one before the room fills up?
